advocacy development project

[listen to audio transcript]

The Advocacy Development Project was created to strengthen Advocacy in Cornwall.

The Valuing People Support Team in the south west raised the money to pay for two Advocacy Development Project Workers.

For over a year Cornwall People First Trustee Steven Dymond has been working with People First founding member, Gary Bourlet on this project.

Steven and Gary have consulted with people across the county to develop a Charter for Advocacy.
They have also been mapping Advocacy Services across Cornwall.

The project held an Advocacy Conference at The Headland Hotel in Newquay in October 2007.

People from all over Cornwall attended and it was a huge success!

The former Forumla 1 World Champion racing driver, Damon Hill, was the guest speaker.

The project has developed the Advocacy Champions Network which has led to lots of groups working together.
