penzance's train walk

[listen to audio transcript]

Train Walk is The National Autistic Society's brand new sponsored walk for families.

People's involvement with Train Walk will raise awareness and encourage people to think differently about autism.

1 in 100 people in the UK have autism.

Together with their families they make up over two million people whose lives are touched by autism every day.

The walks took place all over the country.

On Sunday 7th June, there was a Train Walk just outside of Penzance.

There was a fanastic turn out and everyone who took part enjoyed a lovely walk in the sunshine from Longrock to Marazion!

The money raised will help support people affected by autism all over Cornwall.

Train Walk is sponsered by Thomas & Friends™.

Many children with autism have a particular love of Thomas & Friends™.

Recent research revealed that many parents felt that the characters played a significant role in their child's early learning and development.

For children who may have little or no understanding of emotions, body language and facial expressions, the bright colours and clear facial expressions make the characters easy to identify and relate to.
