Cornwall People First are thrilled to have been selected as a winner of the Santander Social Enterprise Development Awards 2014 for the South of England!
We won the award for our People First Quality Checkers project. People First Quality Checkers are a social enterprise. This means that the money they earn from their services is not to make a profit, but helps to keep their work going. It also means that the services they get paid for are helpful to society.
People First Quality Checkers employ people with learning disabilities to check services for people with learning disabilities and to deliver citizenship training. Their checking service and training use ‘The Keys to Citizenship’, which were created by Simon Duffy and Wendy Perez from The Centre of Welfare Reform.
The award will enable our People First Quality Checkers to develop their services and their checking and training resources for sale on-line. We are very excited about this and will keep you updated with news!
